CAMP 2A Classes and Courses
USCCA Illinois Concealed Carry Course - 16 Hours
Join us for the 16 hour (two 8 hour days) Illinois Concealed Carry and Home Defense Course. Successfully completing this course will provide you with the credentials to apply for your IL Concealed Carry License.
USCCA Illinois RENEWAL Concealed Carry Course - 3 Hours
Join us for the 3 hour Illinois Concealed Carry RENEWAL course. This recertification course covers the State of Illinois’ applicable laws and firearms qualification requirement to renew your Concealed Carry License.
Personal Training (Dedicated exclusive individual training)
Receive dedicated exclusive individual firearms training. Personalized training courses are for those who are interested in learning independent of a group setting, where instruction is individually paced, or would like to receive focused instruction on a specific firearm or topic.
Couples and Family Training (Exclusively provided to couples or family only)
Receive firearms training exclusively as couples or as a family group. Couples and Family Training courses are for those who prefer to learn and train only alongside their spouse, friend, or as a family unit.
NRA Basics of Pistol Course
The NRA Basics of Pistol Course is the National Rifle Association’s certified course for the basics of pistol shooting. It is designed for individuals who are new to pistols or are looking for a thorough refresher on how to safely handle and operate pistols. This course is also one of the requirements in becoming a Certified NRA Basic Pistol Instructor, and upon successful completion provides credit for half of the 16 hours of training required (8 hours -Day 1) to get a Conceal Carry License in Illinois.
NRA Basics of Rifle Course
The NRA Basics of Rifle Course is the National Rifle Association’s certified course for the basics of rifle shooting. It is designed for individuals who are new to rifles or are looking for a thorough refresher on how to safely handle and operate rifles. This course is also one of the requirements in becoming a Certified NRA Basic Rifle Instructor.
NRA Pistol Marksman Simulator Training Course (Laser Simulated Training Pistols)
The NRA Pistol Marksman Simulator Training Course teaches basic marksmanship fundamentals, firearm safety using a simulated pistol with a resetting trigger and laser to indicate where the shots hit. No actual firearms or live ammunition are fired at a range in this simulator training course. This course is designed for individuals who prefer a “stepping stone” before handling actual firearms and firing live ammunition.
Introduction to Mid-Range Rifle (300 and 600 Yards)
Introduction to Mid-Range Rifle is a course designed for individuals who are interested in developing the skills necessary for competing in NRA F-Class Rifle and Precision Rifle Series (PRS) tournaments.
Field Strip PLUS+ Courses (Safety, Assembly/Disassembly, Cleaning & Maintenance)
Field Strip PLUS+ courses are designed for individuals who are looking for personalized instruction on how to safely assemble and disassemble their firearm(s), properly clean firearms, and how to maintain their firearms for extended longevity.
Firearms Instructor: Jeffrey Turay
Jeff Turay is a Certified NRA Pistol and Rifle Instructor, NRA Range Safety Officer, and USCCA Concealed Carry Instructor. His dedication to training students is defined in the CAMP 2A mission statement: To provide expert instruction on firearm fundamentals, and effectively teach the attitude, knowledge, and skill to safely operate, properly maintain, and accurately shoot firearms.
Jeff is a rifle and pistol competitor actively involved in F-Class High Power Rifle, Precision Rifle Series (PRS), Steel Challenge Shooting Association (SCSA), and United States Practical Shooting Association (USPSA) matches and tournaments throughout the Great Lakes Region and United States. Jeff holds an NRA competitor classification of “High Master” in F-Class Mid-Range rifle and is a recipient of the NRA’s American High Power Rifleman Award. He is a member of the Illinois State Rifle Association Range (ISRA) and the Aurora Sportsmen’s Club.
In 2024, Jeff was the ISRA’s top scoring F-Class F-TR Mid-Range competitor (shooting .223 Remington and .308 Winchester), and ISRA “400 Club Pin” recipient. In 2024 at the Aurora Sportsmen’s club, Jeff placed 3rd overall for the combined monthly NRA sanctioned F-Class High Power Rifle matches in the F-TR division, and placed 3rd in the F-TR division at the 2025 Illinois F-Class State Championship. In 2025, Jeff was ranked in the Top 10 Great Lakes Regional Precision Rifle Series (PRS) competitors shooting in the Tactical Division (.223 Remington or .308 Winchester).
Jeff earned a diploma in Advanced Gunsmithing from MGS Trade School, is an expert handloader, and a lifelong student of firearms history and ballistics. He is a Sons of American Legion member, American Legion Post 20.

FIREARMS INSTRUCTOR: PAUL TURAY, SR.
Paul Turay, Sr. is a Certified USCCA Range Safety Officer and former United States Army weapons instructor. His lifetime of experience provides valuable insights and guidance.
Paul served in the United States Army, graduating from Officer Candidate School (OSC) as a Second Lieutenant. At OCS, he was awarded the Army Expert Qualification Badge (Rifle and Pistol) and achieved the highest combined score for Pistol Caliber .45 (1911) and M14 Rifle (7.62 x 51 mm NATO) in his class. While stationed at Fort Dix, NJ, Paul was assigned to the Weapons Training Committee Group as an Officer in Charge. He instructed basic trainees on the M14 Rifle at the defensive and night firing ranges, as well as M30 practice and M26 live grenades at the hand grenade ranges.
In 1967, Paul was deployed to Vietnam in the Central Highlands with the 8th Transportation Group. During his tour, from August 1967 to August 1968, he was promoted to First Lieutenant, given command of the 597th Transportation Company, and was awarded the Bronze Star on August 15, 1968.
Paul is an active member of the VFW Post 9545, and American Legion Post 1977.
